Jill Garber Couture
19 th. C. Gorham Sterling Silver Framed Elizabeth Purse with Floral Hand Embroidery
Jill Garber's Elizabeth bags are beautiful recrafted from the most wonderful antique purse frames that she has collected over her lifetime. Once she selects a frame from her collection, it is cleaned and prepared for reconstruction. Each frame is already a work of art. We add length to existing changing, updating - so that these bags have now become shoulder or across the body bags.
The body is then constructed from nineteenth - early twentieth century hand embroidered silk crepe, selvedge from Canton or Manton trade shows. No machine embroidered silks are used. The inner linings are then made in either silk duponi, linen or silk crepe. All fringes used are original antique hand twisted silk, we never use modern imported polyester as you often see in reproduction styles available on the web.
Frames are then meticulously reattached to the purse body. This is a time consuming process that requires several week to complete.
