Jill Garber Couture

Early 20 th. C. Hand Embroidered Black Silk Crepe Colette Messenger Bag with Elaborate Silk Fringes

$1,450

Jill knew there was a need for a wonderful and feminine western feeling Messenger bag, and along came Colette. Designed and hand crafted from her original couture pattern this is the absolutely perfect oversized purse and carry all bag. She was so pleased with how these bags turned out that she named them after her beautiful niece Colette.

So often textile or tapestry shoulder bags, though practical, have very little distinction in style. The bag reflects the romantic vision of Czech Alphonse Mucha, who illustrated the most fabulous French theatre posters during the 1800's and designed the grande fret work entrances for the Paris Metro.

Utilizing the most luxurious fine 19 th. C. natural dyed silk crepe carefully salvaged from hand embroidered Canton and Manton Trade Shawls for the generous flap front, the  inner body has a deep three inch gusset with structure and lining constructed of textural linen for strength and durability - Jill uses every inch of the divine hand knotted twisted silk fringes along all three edges of the front flap on each of these glorious messenger bags.

These bags are engineered and sewn so that there are no visible inner seams, every detail is meticulously hand finished with love and care.
